Healesville:

Healesville rests on the ancestral land of the Wurundjeri people, who we acknowledge as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet, play and work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Before the founding of Healesville in 1864, a settlement nearby called New Chum had existed for over two years and had become a thriving base for miners and others on route to the goldfields at Woods Point and Jericho.

By 1866 over thirty business premises were operating in Nicholson Street, including six hotels, a post office, a saddlery, and a blacksmith, with The Grand Hotel overlooking the township since 1888.

Healesville is a very historic town, located in the valley of the Watts River, surrounded on several sides by the Great Dividing Range. This candle has been designed to invoke the memories of Healesville and being in the Australian Bush.
